Men's Retreat: Nifty Fifty

I haven't forgotten about the Men's Retreat photos or my Nifty Fifty project! I managed to get my 50mm f/1.8 lens mounted to my camera while at Huntington Camp on Raquette Lake. I sometimes wonder which lens I'd keep if I had to get rid of all but one lens. I get so much use out of my 10-20mm lens, but when I use my 50mm f/1.8, I get some photos that I really enjoy. I especially enjoy taking photos of various hardware on docks and piers, especially if there's a little rust involved.

Believe it or not, I still have a few more photos to process and post. I've been preoccupied with other things lately. More to come, I'm sure!

John, I like both these images. The detail and texture is very nice. If I could make one suggestion on the first image. Try cropping out the white spot at the top and see if that helps. The white really seems to yank my eye away from the excellent detail in the cleat. Best wishes.

Thanks Beau! I appreciate the feedback. I'll take a look and see what I can do about the white spot. Are you talking about the one on the very top, or both? I'm inclined to see if I can clone them out before cropping. (I'm a pixel-pack rat).

I like these, John. They are different from your usual subjects, and I think that is important to do.

The white spots in the first one looks to be blown-out reflection highlights. Cloning them out might be the best solution as cropping the shot could change the composition too much.
